Charlotte Afro-Latinos Black History Month Commemoration
Charlotte’s Patriotic Celebrations and Traditions Committee (Fiestas Patrias) (CFPTC), the City of Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), and the Mecklenburg Council of Elders (MCOE) will commemorate in Charlotte Afro-Latinos Black History Month.

Federico Rios
Federico Rios, the esteemed Senior Vice President of the Foundation For The Carolinas, is set to host the event. He led the Office of Equity, Mobility, and Immigration Integration for the City of Charlotte.
Time and address
The Cultural Act will occur this Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the New Science Center Truist Auditorium at Johnson C. Smith University, 100 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216.
Attendants can hear from distinguished Afro-Latino leaders in the Charlotte Metropolitan region as they share their unique experiences. The event will feature captivating cultural performances.

Seventh year
This 2024 will be the seventh consecutive year Fiestas Patrias celebrates Afro-Latino Black History Month in the Charlotte metropolitan region.
Fiestas Patrias
Charlotte’s Patriotic Celebrations and Traditions Committee, Fiestas Patrias, is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to celebrate the identity and culture of Latin Americans and Spaniards living in Mecklenburg and adjacent counties.
Since its inception in July 2015, the CFPTC has organized and celebrated each of the national days of all Latin American Spanish-speaking countries, Spain, and the United States.
Furthermore, Fiestas Patrias has also produced integral cultural events, such as Spanish-language Day, Hispanic Heritage Month, and the Spanish-language Annual Teachers’ Encounter.
In the nine years of its existence, CFPTC has held around 240 cultural events, including Three Kings Day and Candle’s Day.
